Integrating Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) Methodology Into Information Systems Curricula
SOA is being adopted aggressively by business firms. SOA is defined as an enabling framework for improving business processes for competitive advantage. The complexity of SOA creates however a challenge in attempting to define an approach to deployment in firms. This workshop defines a practical program management methodology to address the complexity. The workshop will benefit instructors attempting to educate students on the complexity of the technology behind SOA. The workshop will concentrate on the business capabilities and dimensions of SOA as more critical than the functionality of technology. This is distinct from frequent syllabi and workshops that focus on pure technology. The highlight of the workshop will be a discussion of case studies of firms in industry that have deployed SOA. The lessons learned will be discussed and shared at the workshop. Finally, the workshop will include a syllabi of SOA that can be integrated into information systems curricula.
