The Internet, a network of networks, is growing. Everywhere in society, the Internet is taking hold. New businesses and technology are rapidly developing. Knowing how the Internet works is and will be as important as knowing how cars or telephones work. The goal of this tutorial workshop is to provide understanding of the Internet's addressing design and how subnet masks are used. Topics include: How IP addresses are used, IP packet header format, IP classes, Subnet Masks, a review of binary numbers, IP address examples and parts. At the end of the workshop, the participant will be able to determine from an IP address the class, mask, network address, and host address.
