Heuristic Programming for Business Solutions
Heuristic programming often called soft computing consists of several paradigms, which include: expert systems, fuzzy logic, neural networks, genetic algorithms, genetic programming and other evolutionary systems. In spite of the many successes they are not all fully accepted in solving business problems. It is important for problem solvers to be aware of these somewhat unorthodox approaches to problem solving and be prepared to use them. This paper gives an overview of the several soft computing paradigms and some examples of successful use in solving business problems.
